Sunday Stories

I love telling stories.

At the beginning of this story, I didn’t know much about Reisa and Ian, but I knew they were looking for something a little different.  I knew that they originally met in a furniture store, and that furniture and design were an important element in their lives. I also knew that Reisa is an interior designer and that they both now own a furniture store in North Vancouver.

So, we took this engagement session to the streets of gastown and finished off in the Morrisey Pub; a vintage style pub that is actually one of Reisa’s commercial designs. During the session she told me that she had hand dipped the chandelier in wax and some of the seats are taken from an old cinema. I could tell that there were a lot of personal touches in this place that made up its unique design and cinematic feel.

I was ecstatic to shoot here  and felt that is was the perfect backdrop to what they were looking for. I decided to process some of these images to look as though they are stills from an old hollywood film. And although some of these images are dark and stylized, I love the fact that you can still see their personalities shine through.

Since these photos were taken, Ian and Reisa got married in Costa Rica!

Congrats to you both!
