Its been close to four months since I my first photoshoot with the Rezniks’. In our first shoot Auriana was pregnant and actually gave birth five days after the shoot! This time around we welcomed little Oliver to the session, and what a gorgeous night to spend at the beach!
Little Oliver who was so peaceful through out the entire session
Julius was a little camera shy, but popped up from behind the log for only a second!
A beautiful night and gorgeous family with so much energy! (can’t believe that the forecast called for rain!!) I really enjoyed hanging out with them at the beach and really look forward to seeing them again. Gabi even painted me a picture of my camera in really bright colours which I will now hang in my studio. Thanks Gabi!
I have known Justin since Grade 9 photography class; he actually showed me how to meter my first SLR camera. Fast forward, lets say a ‘few’ years, and he’s engaged to Michelle. I met Michelle for the first time just over a year ago and I love her energy! Such a lovely couple.
The bad weather lurked behind us. Far in the distance the clouds were a heavy blue and the occasional bolt of lighting made the sky light up. After the shoot we headed for a drink to discuss the details of their wedding which will take place on the docks of Britannia Shipyard this summer. I’m excited to photograph them again, at such a unique venue. Congratulations to them both!
I had so much fun photographing the Ireland’s! I first met Chloe and Julia last summer and their auntie’s wedding, but have known their family for years. They really are such a beautiful family, on the inside and out, and I was truly touched when Julia wanted to take me home.
A family portrait with the girls’ favourite stuffed fur friends!
A tickle war!
I absolutely love children at this age because I get to make up little games to play to keep them amused and energetic during the entire session. After we played peek-a-boo through the grass, I picked a flower for Chloe.
The rain stopped, just as we pulled into Stanley Park. It was one of those perfectly overcast Vancouver sundays, where the park was actually quiet and you would never know that it was peak tourist season.
We finished up the shoot at the lighthouse overlooking North Vancouver. I can’t wait until September to photograph Suzanne and Chris at their Wedding in Granville Island! Happy Engagement!
I met with Joe Campo, the Westin Bayshore’s new Executive Chef just before a small lunch of 300. (300 is small?…yikes!) I had a look around the hotel and kitchens for some inspiration and a backdrop that would suit the company’s branding. The kitchen was perfect, as its mostly wall to wall glass that sits on the water and overlooks the mountains. Wow… talk about an ideal workspace! We also took the shoot outside, despite the rain, and got a few shots with Vancouver’s trademark mountains in the background.
Joe Campo is responsible for the culinary teams for the Wesin Bayshore’s Banquets and Catering. You can find him at the Seawall Bar & Grill and Currents at the Bayshore Restaurant.
I hit the road may long weekend to Tofino in search of sun and surf. For anyone who has been around Vancouver this spring, the sun has been hard to find, but it came out for us in Tofino and despite all the wind and cold, it was beautiful.
Each night we wemt to Cox Beach to watch the sun set and the surfers compete for waves with a cheeky vino and tin of lager in hand.
The sunsets were beautiful and photographers from all over flocked to Cox Beach to capture the sunset. We missed the sunset the third and final night as I inhaled too many campfire fumes and had to head to Tofino General to balance out my asthma. I haven’t had an attack like that since I was 11.
And this is what I wrote to capture the essence of the long weekend….. no camping trip is complete without road trip jerky, a $33 dollar book purchase to accelerate the ferry ride, ceasars at lunchtime, (and thanks to miss deevy) gourmet bbqs, surfwatching, marshmallow analysing accompanied by a token may long speeding ticket and trip to the emergency room. Thanks to Tofino General for nursing me back to normal considering my camfire smell.
I met with Nadine Miller from Casa Collection this week to take a peek at her West 2nd store in Vancouver that opened in January of this year. What a great space and a perfect place to find a unique wedding gift from one of Vancouver’s local artists and designers. Take a look at what I found….
Casa Collection is located in the heart of Vancouver’s Design District. (I didn’t know that Vancouver had a Design District until I met with Nadine) This is definitely an area to watch! To know what is going on at Casa go to the blog! www.casastore.ca
I am always so busy taking other families portraits and have never made the time to photograph my own family. It was my mum’s birthday last month and she decided that she wanted to upgrade our family photos, so we headed down to Britannia Shipyard.
My mum and brother always tell me how un-photogenic they are, but I SERIOUSLY have to disagree! My only complaint is that they are more stylish than me. sigh.
My mum loves the garden, being close to the water and is a new-found clothes horse. Sean has ALWAYS been a clothes horse and is known for buying ‘one in every colour’. I think he owns 8 pairs of high-top converse. I love tucking my jeans into my boots, collecting antique jewellery and my family.
