Denise + Ryan // Winter Wedding at Minoru Chapel

I have absolutely loved getting to know Denise + Ryan. They are so much fun!

Denise and Ryan tied the knot at Minoru Chapel in Richmond on a not-so-rainy day in January. (you don’t get to say that often!) Denise’s gown was absolutely stunning and her red shoes and flowers matched Ryan’s Red Serge perfectly.

I love how their whole day was full of such raw emotion as well as roaring laughter. From the morning headline in the Globe and Mail (see photo below), to the tears at the alter and the animated photobooth late in the evening. It was a LOT of fun to be a part of this wedding.

Thank you so much for having me! I can’t wait to show you more!

Kristina + Jason // Elegant Sutton Place Hotel Wedding

I absolutely adore every detail of this elegant winter wedding at the Sutton Place Hotel in Vancouver. Kristina + Jason got married on one of the most gorgeous sunny days in January and I was extremely honoured to be a part of their day. The ceremony and reception took place in the Versailles ballroom with it’s stunning chandeliers and lovely light damask wallpaper. In the evening the tables were set with black candelabras and black metallic champagne flutes and the room was dotted with white flowers and bold black chairs. This was one beautiful black tie affair!

Besides the decor and immaculate details, Kristina and Jason are such a fantastic couple. I loved all of their personal details from the pinapple shortbread cookies all the way from Hawaii, (a sentiment to share from the place where Jason proposed), the handwritten emotional vows and the handmade wedding cake made by Jason’s aunt.

Thank you so much for having me be such a big part of your amazing wedding day. Congrats again!

The Rieveley's at Jericho Beach

This little cutie liked to run! It was quite the workout following Felix around.  A lot of people think it is a challenge for me when kids don’t want to sit still, however I think it makes the photos more authentic. I love taking photos when kids are being themselves, as that is when their little (or big!) personalitlies shine through. Felix ran around, climbed the big tree logs, and got in the sand to make sandcastles. In between running around we also played some games so we could get a few shots with mom and dad. I adore how these turned out.

Playtime with Bodhi + Luna

Quite a few months back, little Luna was born and Bodhi became a big brother. I photographed the family at the house to keep things comfortable and warm for little Luna. The light was beautiful and I got some great shots of everyone playing together. Guitars, Drums and brother/sister cuddles were all part of the fun. I really like how some of the black and white images turned out  (I processed them a little differently than I normally do) and the kids are absolutely adorable. Especially when Bodhi is having fun being a big brother.

Tofino in January

I don’t do this very often. In fact, my last personal blog post was written in June 2010 after my first trip to Tofino. I suppose I am inspired by Tofino’s vast, misty backdrops.

I don’t often bring out my camera on holiday as I prefer to rest and be calm. Don’t get me wrong, I love taking photos, but occasionally I need a break from everything to clear my mind. It is sometimes hard to relax and live in the moment when you are constantly trying to figure out the best way to capture it. Plus, I don’t have a point and shoot camera so my back and shoulders often need a break from the heavy equipment load. However, this year (2013) one of my goals is to take more personal pictures, so what better way to start than right away.

We went to Tofino at the beginning of January 2013. Most of the images were taken in one afternoon while out for a walk on Long Beach.

Enjoy.

Fun Winter afternoon with The Karamanian's in Steveston

I love photographing toddlers! Whether they are shy, outgoing, giggly or all of the above they always have very strong personalities. More often than not, toddlers don’t want to do what you would like them to do, however they’re usually more willing if it is turned into a game.  I have come up with a lot of little games over the years to get the shots that I want. I met the Karamanian’s at Britannia Shipyard in Steveston on a beautiful winter’s afternoon to play some games and take some pictures. Madilyn was a little shy at first, but you would never know by these photos. There was a lot of giggling that day and I think my favourite game was dancing her dolly on my head.

Kristina + Jason// Rainy Day Engagement

It was a typical rainy day in Vancouver; the type where you just want to drink tea in your pj’s all day. Despite the cold, Kristina + Jason  were great sports and trusted that I would keep them dry. I had a lot of fun shooting this session and looking forward to their cozy winter wedding this January. Congrats you two!
